Either listening or playing, music is a constant inspiration in my life. My last music recommendations are still worth following up,(see earlier blog) but here are some new faves which are trés cool.
For a fabulous ‘World Music/Reggae’ album, ‘Dub Colossus in a Town Called Addis’ is currently monopolising my iPod. Think Dub Reggae meets North African singing, and you are getting there. Deep base, oceans of delay and inspired voices transport me away from global recession worries within the first few bars of the first track.

And for the harmony-inclined, Animal Collective‘s ‘Merriweather Post Pavilion’ is a trippy, kaleidascopic audio experience. Out of the Flaming Lips and Fleet Foxes creative landscape, AC is an original sound worth exploring.
OK, whilst we are on the fringes, I cannot forget Sigur Ros’ album ‘Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust’.

Yeah, I have no idea what it means either, but the album has a specific Icelandic orchestral beauty that I found evocative enough to use at a recent CEO retreat that experiencedna delivered in Tasmania. Be warned, the lyrics are apparently ‘explicit’, but unless you speak Bjork, you wouldn’t know…and finally, ‘Suicide‘ by Suicide is a purely nostalgic ‘best of…’ collection by the NY avant garde leather boys that I just love to death.
